This is every children’s nightmare…
Due to work, family commitments and other reasons in life, adults sometimes have no choice but to place their loved elderly parent(s), who may no longer be able to care for themselves, into facilities such as an aged care nursing home run by qualified professionals,
This is the case here for Noleen Hausler, a 56 year old Adelaide woman who’s father has Alzheimer’s disease. Unable to talk and walk, Noleen placed her loving father into the Mitcham Residential Care Facility, in the hope that quality care will be provided to him on a daily basis.
Suspicions though started arise when Noleen spotted different bruises on her father’s body, arms and face. Her concerns to the management were to no avail so she decided to take matters into her own hands by installing a secret video camera. Unfortunately her worst fears were confirmed.
Here’s what she caught on camera.
WARNING: The following video contain images that may distress some viewers.
As you can see from the disturbing footage above, the male carer Corey Lyle Lucas can be seen eating Mr Hausler’s food, force feeding him, flicking his face, sneezing on him and even used a napkin to cover the elderly man’s nose while pinning down his arms, as if he wanted to suffocate the old man.
When Noleen saw the video footage, her worst nightmare was confirmed and while very upset by what she saw, she thought about taking the evidence to the residential aged care facility, but the conducts and abuse caught on film were just too serious. So she took the video evidence to the police station instead and Corey was convicted of two counts of aggravated assault with a sentence of ten months behind bars.
I absolutely feel for Noleen and her dad here. Out of all the countries, Australia would probably be the last one on my list when it comes to this type of abusive treatment inside a nursing home. But then…there are all different types of people in this world regardless where they are.
Unfortunately, that’s just the way it is…
